June 7, 2008 we were invited to participate in the grand opening of the multi-million dollar 600+ acre Washington County Big Marine Park Reserve (brochure). This project of the county has been in the works for 15+ years. Our chapter donated 25 Wood Duck Houses and the park donated another 25. A total of 50 houses were built buy kids 14 and younger during the day. While building the houses, our members instructed the kids and parents about habitat, the best location for the house, how to mount, and maintenance. December 2007 - Pheasant Hunt ..................... photo's
Just a few lines to recap our pheasant hunt outing.  It was a cold crisp morning.  If you call 12 below zero cold.  Sixteen members showed up for the morning wake up call.  Actually it was 24 members if you count our best friends, the dogs.  We met at the club house at 8:00 a.m. for coffee and short wait while the birds were being set out.  By 8:30 we were in the field.  The morning started a bit slow.  The cold and no wind seemed to make it hard for the dogs to get the scent.  Surprisingly it did not seem that cold.  I guess walking in the snow kept us all warm.  As the morning warmed up so did the dogs.  The birds held tight, but by 11:30 we had 43 birds and were back at the club house for coffee, pop, beer, chips hot dogs and brats.  We sat around the fire place, ate our lunch and enjoyed each others company, plus a few stories.  Oh, yes it was Todd’s 32nd birthday.  So, we had a cake and wished him happy birthday.  John Molkenbur noted that he had underwear older than that.  It was a great day!   Reminder...we have other events in the works.  Please join in!!!  It sure beats sitting on the couch or on the bench at the mall. (Bruce Nelson)
